DETUNE was used a lot in the 80s rock music (still today) and is often confused with the modulation effect called chorus. DETUNE is a stereo effect that is able to enlarge the stereophonic image of the guitar sound, playing on the Left Right perception of our brain.
I’m not a technician for these things, but I try to give you an idea of how it works: … it takes the sound of your guitar, sends it to the left channel for example, makes a copy on the right channel but doesn’t leave it so it alters the intonation.
Doing so creates the effect of 2 guitars playing the same phrasing! But no matter how it works technically, what matters is the result! On the other hand, this effect has also been used a lot in the voices of great artists such as Ozzy and many others!
